Sports Illustrated’s College Football

It’s September. We’ve had our first bit of cooler weather here in Northwest Arkansas. That means . . .
College football!
For the first third of the twentieth century, professional football was practically ignored. However, the public was ravenous about following their favorite college teams.
Today, the NFL is big business. However, fans are, in my opinion, more spirited about their school teams than their professional counterparts.

This year’s season looks intriguing indeed, with Notre Dame and Penn State back as powerhouses after mixed performances so far in the 21st century. Nebraska is back in the Top 25 after an absence that to Husker fans felt like an eternity. The Louisville Cardinals are there, too, fun stuff indeed for the school’s supporters who have seen a lot more basketball success than football. And Ohio State fans are just slightly fired up about their #1 team spanking #2 Texas ;-).
Anyhow, it’s going to be a fun season. And today’s FamilyFirst site is my personal recommendation as the one to have bookmarked for the latest and greatest.
It’s Sports Illustrated’s College Football site. Not only can you get the latest news and scores, but you’re also treated to SI’s great columnists and their observations.
Grab your pennant, your big foam number one hand, and let the tailgating begin!
